Along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the meeting of sea, earth, and sky has long inspired artists and naturalists. For Walter Inglis Anderson, these elements were more than scenery; they shaped how he experienced the world and became central to the imagery that defines his work.

Inspired by Anderson’s vision, artists Erica Larkin Gaudet and Mitchell Gaudet have created three monumental sculptures titled Sea, Earth, and Sky. The sculptures draw imagery from Anderson’s block prints and the natural motifs that appear throughout his work. Together they celebrate the creative energy found in the natural world and encourage artists to look closely at the landscapes around them.

These sculptures will stand at the entrance to the future Creative Complex at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. This expansion will add studios, gardens, classrooms, and gathering spaces where visitors can engage with art in new ways. The goal is to create a place where people can experience the artistic process as it unfolds, from the first spark of creativity to the finished work.

CAST A LASTING LEGACY

We invite you to be part of the Museum’s campus expansion in a lasting way. Each sculpture is composed of individual cast glass tiles, offering a meaningful way to support WAMA’s future, while honoring the vision and legacy of Walter Anderson.
