Quiet Waters presents the Mississippi Gulf Coast not as landscape, but as a state of being. Through luminous horizons, gentle tides, and breathing grasses, these paintings invite the viewer into a pause — a place where light steadies the spirit and stillness becomes a form of healing. In a world that often feels chaotic, these quiet waters remind us that peace is always present, waiting to be seen.
Born in Sumter, South Carolina, and shaped by an international childhood in Germany and Belgium, Nathalie S. Pettit is a self-taught artist whose work is deeply intertwined with her life experiences. After earning degrees from the University of California, San Diego and Thomas Jefferson School of Law, serving in the Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and spending 20 years in private law practice in Kailua, Hawaii, she retired to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to focus on art. A veteran whose healing journey from PTSD led her back to painting, Nathalie creates serene, ethereal landscapes inspired by the marshes and coastlines of the Gulf Coast. Through her soothing pastel works, she seeks to offer others a sense of peace, understanding, and quiet restoration.
