Our ART+ initiative makes art experiences accessible digitally and connects the collection to a variety of fields of study including art history, science, social studies, and language arts.

In this ART+ installment, WAMA's own Amy Gandy leads an all-ages yoga class with poses inspired by Walter Anderson's animals.

What a lovely way to bring the collection to life for kids — connecting art to movement and animal observation is exactly the kind of thing that makes creativity stick. For families looking for another animal-inspired activity that's just as absorbing at home, a giraffe crochet kit has been a real favourite with our daughter. It comes pre-started with everything included, yarn, hook, stuffing, and video tutorials for both hands, so there's no frustrating cold start for beginners. She finished her little giraffe companion over a weekend and the same focused attention she brings to art activities carried her right through to the end.

Love seeing museums find creative ways to keep kids engaged with art — the idea of turning animal illustrations into movement really sticks with kids better than just looking at pictures. That same hands-on principle works across a lot of creative hobbies, including LEGO building. Parents who want to extend that kind of tactile, focused activity at home often find that adding a lego technic light kit to a finished model gives kids a genuine sense of completion and pride in what they built. The wiring and installation also sneaks in some patience and fine motor work without feeling like a lesson.

There’s something oddly satisfying about Drift Boss—every turn feels like a small risk, and when you nail it, it’s super rewarding.

Excellent breakdown of the topic with a focus on clarity and relevance. The writing feels natural and easy to connect with. It also brought to mind a discussion I recently saw on https://lovelri.com/ that offered another viewpoint on the same subject. It is always beneficial to see topics explored from different angles like this.

It also reminds me how important our home environment is for supporting our kids' growth. We're currently planning a Kitchen renovation in Oshawa, and I'm thinking about how to create space for creativity—maybe an art corner where my kids can paint, or a yoga nook by the window with natural light. Small touches that encourage them to keep creating and moving. Thanks for sharing this inspiring program!"
