About The Event

| PRESENTED BY HANCOCK WHITNEY |

Also sponsored by Allen Beverages, Cathead Distillery, Dos & Lucy Hetrick, Rain Residential, and the business of The Collective.

The spirt of the island comes to the mainland for a socially-distanced evening of open air dining, drink, yard games, performance, live readings, and creative economy. This benefit for the Walter Anderson Museum of Art event is held at the site of The Collective, a forthcoming mixed-use development by Rain Development in downtown Ocean Springs championing creative economy, environmental sustainability, and coastal culture.

The evening celebrates the re-publication of Walter Anderson’s Horn Island Logs by University Press of Mississippi, the definitive collection of the artist’s writings influenced by time spent on the barrier islands. Books can be purchased as part of ticket packages, or on-site.

Join us for a "cochon de lait" picnic, musical performances and readings, specialty brews and cocktails, and a first taste of the the coast's coolest new community development in the making, including an open-house of one of The Beatnik cabins.

A word about masks and such: We will continue adhering to health and safety guidelines and recommendations from local, state, and federal officials, and will maintain distancing between guest parties. Until further notice, attendees will be asked to wear masks when in areas of close mingling, but may be removed when back at your picnic blanket, table, or when socializing in a socially distanced manner.

MORE ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE:

The Collective is a ongoing project of Ocean Springs residents Ted and Roxy Condrey of Rain Development. Its mission is to bring together passionate craftspeople who want to share their talents with the community. Once complete, the sustainabile development will incubate small business entrepreneurship, including:

THE HOTEL BEATNIK, a tiny hotel inspired by beatnik culture and adventure seekers of tthe 1950s and 60s, featuring four modern, floating cabins; SEA CHANGE NANOBREWERY, producing small-batch coastal brews; BUTCHER BAKER, from the culinarians Michael and Stephanie Paoletti; APPLE PEAR, from the minds behind Vestige Restaurant - baker Kumi Omori and James Beard-nominated chef Alex Perry; THE BOOK PORTER, an independent bookseller owned by locals Heather and Dave Denison, hosting readings, signings, and events; and wine by SEAN PERKINS.

This event would not be possible without the partnership with the business owners and entrepreneurs listed above, all of whom are contributing their talents and efforts to the festivities.
