About The Event

Join exhibiting artist Martha Kelly for a sketchbook workshop geared towards all skill levels that highlights the basic techniques and wonders of a timeless craft.

In this workshop, you can expect to cover the foundation of putting together an outdoor sketching kit that both has what you need and is light enough to carry, learn how to choose an ideal, public spot outside, and navigate how to engage intimately and comforatably with the environment around you. With her unique perspective, Kelly will encourage individuals to draw inspiration from the surrounding subject matter to utilize sketching as a meditative practice that aids in memory and functions as a building block towards an overall better quality of life.

This workshop will meet in the Courtney Blossman Art Cottage located across the street from the Museum and journey outdoors depending on weather and group desires. Starter sketchbooks and basic materials will be provided along with the opportunity to explore with some of Martha's personal items. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sketching materials if they prefer.

Note: Although benches, porches and retaining walls are scattered about on the Museum's campus and in the community, be mindful of protection from natural elements and comfort if no seating is available.

This workshop is complementary to but not required for the artist's other sketchbook workshop, Keeping a Sketchbook with Martha Kelly(will inlcude link).

Cost: $60 members; $75 non-members. Select materials provided.
