About The Event
Join Producer Robert St. John and Filmmaker Anthony Thaxton for the Ocean Springs Premiere of the new documentary film, Walter Anderson: The Extraordinary Life and Art of The Islander. The film will be screened in the Ocean Springs Community Center, surrounded by Walter Anderson’s landmark murals. A panel discussion and Q&A follows with Robert St. John, Anthony Thaxton, and Walter Anderson’s four children.
This new, intimate and revealing film explores the fascinating life and work of Mississippi Gulf Coast legend Walter Inglis Anderson. Through poignant family interviews, never-before-seen artwork, and breathtaking images from Anderson’s beloved Horn Island, viewers discover and rediscover the genius who has been called "the South's most elusive artist.”
Accompanying the film is a new full-color catalogue produced by Robert St. John and Anthony Thaxton. Signed copies will be available for purchase through the Museum Store.
