Luther Dickinson “Wall to Wall Sound” Concert

Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars is joined by friends and collaborators to ignite a night of rock, funk, blues, and musical experimentation in the Ocean Springs Community Center paying homage to the unbridled creativity of Walter Anderson’s landmark murals. 

Joined by: Jai Johanny Johanson (Jaimoe), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and founding member of The Allman Brothers and Jaimoe's Jasssz Band; Jake Eckert, New Orleans Suspects; Kirk Joseph, founding member of the Dirty Dozen Brass and leader of Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove; Big Chief Juan Pardo, The Golden Comanches Mardi Gras Indians; Sharde “Fifemastor” Thomas, blues tradition torchbearer granddaughter of fife and drum pioneer Otha Turner; Johnny Vidacovich, legendary New Orleans drummer of Astral Project.

“Conversations Inspired by…” with Luther Dickinson

Join Luther Dickinson and guests for a panel discussion and deconstruction of his visionary concert series inspired by the Walter Anderson’s murals in the Ocean Springs Community Center. Hear about the origins of the series and how Dickinson’s experience of the murals and of Horn Island manifest themselves through music. Dickinson shares his process of translating visual art into sound, and discusses how the power of the Southern land energizes his creative vision. Cost: Free to the public.

Luther Dickinson “In the Round” Recital

Luther Dickinson performs an intimate concert surrounded by the murals of Walter Anderson. One of the most unique Museum experiences in the entire South, Dickinson takes as his muse the colors and rhythms of these iconic artworks, translating their visual dynamism into mind-blowing sound. 

Joined by: Jai Johanny Johanson (Jaimoe), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and founding member of The Allman Brothers and Jaimoe's Jasssz Band; Vaylor Trucks, founding member of the Yeti Trio and son of Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers; Dominic John Davis, bass player and collaborator of Jack White; Callaghan Miles, 14-year-old bass prodigy; Leif Anderson, daughter of Walter Anderson; and Johnny Vidacovich, legendary New Orleans drummer of Astral Project.

This event is part of Walter Anderson Weekend held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday September 20-22.
