About The Event
In the mid-twentieth century, Walter Anderson took extensive bicycle journeys across the US and into Mexico. In celebration of Anderson’s bicycle travels, WAMA has invited a series of scholars from partnering institutions to discuss artists who were working at the same time as Anderson and help connect his work to the larger art world. One of Anderson’s most frequent trips was to his birth-state of Louisiana. Michelle Schulte, Chief Curator and Director of Programs at the LSU Museum of Art in Baton Rouge will join us on Thurs, Apr 11 to discuss the life and artwork of Southern modernist Caroline Durieux.
Caroline Durieux was an artist, inventor, professor, and leader, Durieux’s varied and ambitious career spanned almost seven decades.
