Join artists and conservationists for a live virtual discussion about the unique and vital character and ecology of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with a special focus on the barrier island wilderness of Horn Island.

Guests include Sierra Club Executive Committee members Louis Skrmetta (coastal advocate and CEO of Ship Island Excursions) and Nkrumah Frazier (environmentalist and Hattiesburg Sustainability Officer); and artists whose work in currently on the view in the exhibition, "Written in the Sand."

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Islands have a particular ability to capture the imagination of artists and explorers alike. Perhaps it is their remoteness that lends them a mythological air – promising enlightenment, rebirth, and transformation. Horn Island is no different and its inspirational pull has been felt by artists for generations.
