Gather around the 2,000-degree furnace at Studio Waveland as we cast molten glass tiles for a new public art sculpture at Waveland’s Ground Zero Hurricane Museum. This steel and glass sculpture, titled Groundswell, is built by artists Erica Larkin Gaudet and Mitchell Gaudet as part of the Museum’s Public Art Enterprise program. It honors community resilience and memory, and stands taller than Katrina’s flood waters.
And you can leave your mark!
Cast into the glass tiles are objects sourced from community members, creating a collection of imagery that speaks to life at the waters edge in Coastal Mississippi.
Here’s how it works:
- Bring an object, roughly 4-5 inches wide or tall that has meaning to you
