Dr. Ligia Romer explores how the art scenes of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the New Orleans area have long been intertwined, as reflected in the lives and works of Dusti Bongé and Walter Anderson. This talk will trace early regional connections through artists such as the Woodwards and George Ohr, examine Dusti’s and Walter’s family roots and ties to Louisiana, and reveal how both artists drew inspiration from New Orleans and its vibrant artistic community, an influence clearly visible in their creative legacies.
