About The Event

“The birds came – the migratory birds – sometime between my morning walk and lunch time – flocks of them, a good many different kinds and most of them in flocks.” — Walter Inglis Anderson, Horn Island Logs

Join us for a peaceful and enriching members-only birdwatching walk inspired by Walter Anderson’s observations of the natural world. In partnership with Audubon Delta and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, participants will be introduced to the basics of birdwatching by experts from the National Audubon Society.

The morning begins with a short introductory session at the Museum, followed by a guided walk from museum grounds to Front Beach, where we’ll practice new skills and observe local and migratory birds along the way. The walk is approximately 2 miles round trip, with multiple stopping points and a seated rest break midway on the beach. Walking shoes and water are recommended.

Check-in begins at 8:00
