About The Event
9 WEEKS OF CLASSES BEGIN MARCH 22.
The Walter Anderson Museum of Art presents WAMAcademy, a Museum program in partnership with the Ocean Springs School District to provide a safe and constructive learning environment for students at Ocean Springs Upper Elementary who are not able to attend in-person schooling full-time due to COVID-19.
The purpose of the program is to:
- help alleviate the unexpected childcare responsibilities for parents and caregivers of students enrolled in virtual learning;
- provide high-speed internet access and supervision for students attending school virtually, and to;
- deliver additional interdisciplinary arts instruction that builds upon school curriculum.
WAMAcademy students will attend their regularly scheduled virtual classes in the safe and socially-distanced Museum environment, and receive dynamic supplementary learning experiences in the galleries and outdoors.
WAMAcademy is limited to 10 students. There is no cost to the program, and lunches and snacks are provided.
SPACE IS LIMITED AND NEED-BASED. Parents or caregivers of interested students should contact WAMA Director of Education Anthony DiFatta at educate@walterandersonmuseum.org to enroll.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS: The Museum operates under a 12-point COVID-19 Safety Pledge, which requires masks to be worn while inside the Museum, includes heightened sanitation protocols, and implements social-distancing measures.
