Full STE(A)M ahead! Join WAMA for a virtual STE(A)M camp connecting art to science, technology, engineering, and math. Led by educator Dr. Heather Montgomery, this camp includes five days worth of at-home projects and pre-produced video instructions, daily live virtual teaching via videoconference, and appearances by guest experts who introduce careers in architecture, engineering, and design.Â
Students will use art techniques like drawing, painting, composition, and 3D sculpture to learn about how creativity connects to fields like environmental science, architecture, engineering, and biology. Students receive a complete STE(A)M box mailed to their doorsteps including supplies needed for the week. Open to students anywhere in the continental United States. Recommended for students ages 8-12. Cost: $100; $80 for membersÂ
Outline of the week:
MON: Science - including how fish breathe, candy science, and chemistry and biology as art materials
TUE: Tech - follow Walter Anderson to China via Google Earth, Google AI AutoDraw, and more
WED: Engineering - play architect, create 3-D models of Anderson art, plus origami animals
THU: Math - students use math and their imaginations in a digital "escape room",
