About The Event

The gulf oyster opens up a week of discovery about the scientific and cultural importance of coastal ecosystems, aquaculture, and biology. Students in grades 7-12 take virtual journeys to a Deer Island oyster farm, through the galleries of one of the South’s treasured museums, and inside the kitchen of a rock-star chef.

Through live instruction and take-home modules, the camp equips the next generation with the data and insights to communicate the Gulf Coast’s importance as one of the most dynamic and threatened ecosystems on planet earth.

All you pay is a $10 fee for a box of camp supplies.
