The landscape of downtown Ocean Springs, Mississippi was indelibly enhanced and forever changed with the opening of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in 1991. WAMA is dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Walter Inglis Anderson (1903-1965), who is placed among the forefront of American painters and muralists of the 20th Century. Walter Anderson taught his children about nature, life, history, and love through his art creations. Continued art education is an integral part of WAMA’s mission.

Over the past few years, we have completed our beautiful renovation project, offered camps to budding young artists in our community, and welcomed a variety of featured artists throughout the museum. In addition to these accomplishments, we are very pleased to offer again our annual WAMA Scholarship for graduating high school seniors. Click on the application above for more details.

The deadline for applications is February 27th, 2017. We will be accepting scholarship applications for next year beginning November 2017.
