9am - 3pm
AGES: 6-12

This year's Art Explorer's Camp will focus on a different medium each week.

Week 1 will include a variety of materials and processes associated with drawing. Students will use pastel, ink, charcoal, pencils and more to create works of art as they communicate how they see the world around them.

Week 2 will explore the use of watercolor, acrylic and tempera paints to convey their own interpretations of the environment.

Week 3 will create sculptures, inspired by nature and Walter Anderson, out of found objects, plaster, recycled material, and paper mache.

Week 4 students will discover all of the possibilities available through print making processes including batik, block printing and screen printing.

(Sign a second child up or send the same child for a 2nd week and receive a discount!)

• Students will participate in collecting recyclables and other materials from Front Beach in Ocean Springs. These items will be combined to create works of art.

• Parents supply lunch for their child Monday thru Thursday with the child’s name clearly marked on the container. Pizza will be delivered by Sal and Mookies every Friday. Your child is to bring the lunch container home each evening. Museum provides a snacks twice a day.

• We often have local artist swing by to give demonstrations and or lessons in their particular form. We will update you as to who and when they will be there.

• A change of clothes to paint in is recommended.

Any donations you have in the form of old toys, wood, etc. that can be used to transform into original works of art would be greatly appreciated!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. We are looking forward to working with the children to make our "Art Explorers" Summer Camp 2017 very special.

"True art consists of spreading wide the intervals so that imagination
may fill the space between the trees."

Walter Inglis Anderson
