Advanced Block Printing at WAMA

with Heather Rumfelt

Cost is $75 | Ages 18+ | BYOB

Saturday, April 15th 10 am - 4 pm

Due to popular demand, we are now offering an ADVANCED block printing class! Join us for a day of fun, creating, and socializing in our beautiful galleries! Although beginners are always welcome, I encourage those interested to do a little research before signing up. We will create two separate blocks using the same image. Each block will be cut to print different colors of that particular image. It is very important that you have an idea and sketches of the image you would like to work with. We will carve and print the first block before breaking for lunch. After lunch we will return to carve our second block and print on top of our previous prints. Each participant will pull 5 prints using a variety of papers and inks. Participants may bring their breakfast/brunch to eat while working.

Our classes sell out months in advance, so be sure to book your spot early! Because class size is limited, spots must be paid for at time of reservation.

Call 872-3164 or email educate@walterandersonmuseum.org to reserve your spot

with Heather Rumfelt and John Anderson

$245 per Person | April 29, 30 and May 1 | Registration ends April 25th

Horn Island is a beautiful wilderness area of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. On it, Walter Anderson sought refuge from the world, wrote, and made paintings and drawings of the fantastic plants and animals he found there. WAMA is preparing another trip to take 18 people on an exclusive 3 day, 2 night retreat to this beautiful and inspiring place. We had such a wonderful experience last May that we have decided to do it again. Grab your fishing poles, tents, and art supplies and join us!!

-The "Skipper" at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor will board us at 7:00 am on April 29th.

-WAMA will provide sandwiches, potato chips, and tea upon arrival to the island and once all of the gear is in place. (around 11:30)
-John Anderson (Walter's son) will be there to guide us, giving us a more personal experience.

-Saturday will be wide open for island fun and production of art work.

-Participants will need to pack their own camping gear, art supplies, and food (Lunch for Sat. and Sun. and dinner for Fri. and Sat.).

-Wama will provide water for the entire trip (you must carry your portion), coffee in the mornings, and a goody bag packed full of breakfast and snack items.

-The "Skipper" will pick us up from the island on Sunday around 1 pm.

-Wama, with the help of Bayview Gourmet, will provide a late lunch on the return excursion.

We will be sending out specific emails to registrants regarding what to expect and pack, with plenty of tips and tricks.

Please contact Heather Rumfelt at (228) 872-3164 ext.110 or educate@walterandersonmuseum.org to reserve your spot.
