BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP The Museum's economic impact on the Gulf Coast Community and Mississippi has long been documented. Economists at the Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) in Jackson have estimated the total economic impact on South Mississippi's economy to be over $917,000 in 1998 (the latest year for which data are available). This generates $630,000 in personal income, an estimated $346,000 in retail sales, and $10,000 in tax revenue. With the continued growth of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art as a primary visitation site in an already-burgeoning Coastal economy, the economic impact of the Museum in 2000 now exceeds $1 million per year.
