Holes in Heaven

January 24, 2008 - May 11, 2008

Walter Anderson wrote in one of his many logs, “Birds are holes in heaven through which man may pass.” A major focal point in his devotion to the harmonies of nature, Anderson’s days were often filled following, observing and lovingly portraying winged creatures. Included are many of Anderson’s watercolors done on his lone visits to the barrier islands which may be considered studies for murals. Anderson portrayed the feathered beings in all of his art forms. This exhibition includes watercolors, pen and ink drawings, furniture, wooden sculpture, and decorated pottery.
