Taken from the Ancient Greek tale, Metamorphoses, the story of Cupid and Psyche celebrates the victory of love over all obstacles. Walter Anderson loved ancient mythology and illustrated many myths in his artwork. This particular scene from Cupid and Psyche shows the lovers embracing for the kiss that transforms Psyche from a human into the goddess of the soul.
